Really Awesome Gaming Expo

This week-end sees the Crew at the 2006 running of RAGE - the hugely popular annual gaming expo at the Coca-Cola Dome, in Northgate, Johannesburg.

Boardgames.co.za will be exhibiting at RAGE and we hope to see many of our customers and subscribers come and support this awesome event and check out what's new in the world of gaming.

Make sure to stop by our stand (stand 63) and say hello. We will have plenty new games on show that haven't even made it onto our online catalogue yet!!!

More details about RAGE can be found at: http://www.rageexpo.co.za/

New Games on our Catalogue

There is a great demand for us to include some of the "Classic" board games (such as Monopoly, Scrabble, Risk, and 30 Seconds) in our catalogue.  We are investigating this possibility and will keep you informed of the situation.

There are some very interesting locally produced games coming onto the market and we feel that we should support the South African developers.  What do you think?

The "Settlers of Catan" Phenomenon

As a lot of you are aware, the “Settlers have landed”, and are making a great impact on the Board gaming community.  We are very proud to have this wonderful game listed on our catalogue. Along with all its expansions, Settlers is a truly awesome game for the festive months ahead. Over 10 MILLION copies have been sold in over 18 languages around the world!!!

Settlers of Catan will get under your skin and you will want to play it over and over again, as each game will bring a new strategy into play.

You may find yourself at loggerheads with your family & friends as you compete against each another, so BEWARE!  This is a “must have” for your collection. Settlers is a 3 to 4 player game, but can be expanded up to 6 players with the 5-6 player expansions.

Microsoft were so impressed with this board game that they have created an online version on their MSN service - visit Catan Online to see more!

To find out more about this world-wide phenomenon, visit the Catan category of games and expansions on our web-site.

Check out the comprehensive Settlers of Catan map which shows how all the expansions relate to the base game.

Competition Winners

Seeing as we are a ”little” behind with our newsletters there will be two Lucky Board Game Winners in our lucky newsletter subscriber draw.

And in keeping with the "Settlers" theme, each lucky winner will receive a copy of Settlers of Catan.

The winners are Damian C, and Claudette W.

Congratulations and thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. We wish you many, many happy hours of gaming with your cool prizes - please help spread the word.

BGASA

We are in the process of researching the possibility of establishing a Board Gaming Association in South Africa and welcome any input from our readers.

We are hoping to establish a forum where players can compete against each other on a national scale. As board gaming is growing in South Africa we would like to promote this interactive pass-time and in so doing create the opportunity for avid gamers to test their skills against the best opponents in the land.
